Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 1, 2026

Gain Publications ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how StoryVox, StoryVox Pro, and StoryVox Cloud handle your information.

1. Our Core Privacy Principle

The local editions — StoryVox and StoryVox Pro — are fully offline desktop applications. They do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data, text content, or generated audio on any external server. Everything you do in those editions stays on your computer.

StoryVox Cloud works differently by design. It generates audio through third-party cloud text-to-speech providers that you choose and configure with your own account credentials. When you generate audio in StoryVox Cloud, the manuscript text you submit is transmitted over the internet to the provider you selected, for synthesis. Gain Publications operates no servers and receives none of this content — the text goes directly from your computer to your chosen provider, subject to that provider's own privacy policy and terms. See Section 3a below.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

The Software does not collect:

  • Personal information (name, email, address, etc.)
  • Text content you input or import into the application
  • Audio files you generate
  • Custom voice styles you create (StoryVox Pro)
  • Usage data, analytics, or telemetry
  • Device identifiers or hardware information
  • Location data
  • Browsing or search history

3. Local Editions — No Internet Connection Required

StoryVox and StoryVox Pro operate entirely on your local computer. StoryVox uses the Kokoro text-to-speech engine and sherpa-onnx for local inference. StoryVox Pro uses Supertonic 3 via ONNX Runtime for local inference. In both cases, audio synthesis runs entirely on your device with no internet connection. No data is sent to or received from any external servers during normal operation of these editions.

3a. StoryVox Cloud — How Your Text Is Handled

StoryVox Cloud requires an internet connection because it generates audio through third-party cloud TTS providers (for example: Microsoft Azure, ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Fish Audio, Atlas Cloud, Together AI, DeepInfra, and Microsoft Edge TTS). You supply your own API keys for the provider(s) you wish to use.

  • Manuscript text is sent to the provider you select only when you initiate audio generation. That transmission goes directly from your computer to the provider; it does not pass through, and is not stored by, Gain Publications.
  • Your API keys are stored locally on your computer (in your Windows AppData folder) and are used only to authenticate your requests to the providers you configure. They are never transmitted to Gain Publications.
  • Your use of each provider is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms of service. You are responsible for your account and agreement with each provider you choose to use.
  • No telemetry, analytics, or tracking of any kind is performed by StoryVox Cloud. Gain Publications operates no servers and collects no data from the application itself.

4. Data Stored on Your Computer

The Software stores the following data locally on your computer:

  • Project files: Your audiobook projects, including text scripts, chapter structure, voice settings, and metadata, stored in your Documents folder
  • Generated audio: WAV and M4B files you create, stored in locations you specify
  • Custom voices (StoryVox Pro only): Voice style files you create using the Voice Studio feature, stored in your Documents folder under "StoryVox Pro\Voices\"
  • Application settings: Your voice preferences, speech rate, and other settings, stored in standard Windows application data folders
  • Temporary files: Sentence-level audio fragments used during generation, stored in your system temp folder and cleaned up automatically

All of this data remains on your computer and is fully under your control. You may delete it at any time.

5. Microsoft Store

If you purchase either application through the Microsoft Store, Microsoft may collect information related to your purchase in accordance with their own privacy policy. Gain Publications does not have access to your payment details or Microsoft account information. Please refer to Microsoft's Privacy Statement for details.

6. Website

The StoryVox Pro website (storyvoxpro.com) is a static informational site. It does not use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics services, or any form of user tracking. No personal information is collected through the website.

7. Email Communications

If you contact us at support@gainpublications.com, we will receive your email address and any information you choose to include in your message. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add support emails to marketing lists, and we do not share your email address with third parties.

8. Children's Privacy

The Software is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since the Software does not collect any user data, this concern is inherently addressed by the offline nature of the applications.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Since the Software does not collect data or maintain user accounts, we have no way to notify users directly of policy changes — we encourage you to review this page periodically.
